Fire Code Consultant & Project Manager

Dalkita Architecture & Construction is a nationally recognized expert in designing distilled spirits plants, or commonly known as craft distilleries. As a Project Manager and Fire Code Consultant, you will lead the development of fire protection design solutions for our clients across the country. You will also serve as the key technical resource and advisor on the fire code. You will communicate as an authoritative representative of Dalkita with members of the fire protection industry, the distilling community, the public and local governments across the country.  You will provide fire code expertise to other city departments and lead the process of deciphering local communities amendments to NFPA standards.

 

Job responsibilities include:

  • Perform building and fire code analysis and interpretation
  • Perform analysis of existing fire protection systems, as well as design new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, alarm and communication systems
  • Posses project management skills for managing internal projects as well a external client needs
  • Manage day- to-day contracts with internal and external clients utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations.
  • Possess advanced level computer skills necessary for daily activities, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, simple graphics, fire dynamic simulation, and a working knowledge of AutoCAD 2013
  • Effectively communicate, both written and verbal, including oral presentations
  • Attend and participate in local national trade organizations, such as SFPE and NFPA
  • Perform research and documentation for internal and external distribution
  • Monitor conformance to project scope and document deviations at the time of discovery.
  • Prepare technical reports
  • Make highly authoritative and persuasive policy recommendations regarding distilleries to elected officials and department heads of fire departments across the country.
  • Serves as a primary contact to assist our clients with HAZMAT reporting
  • Develop hazardous materials inventories that meet local AHJ requirements for our clients.
  • Provide technical support, plan review and recommendations regarding hazardous materials operations and policy to our clients for compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
  • Provide technical overview of anticipated inspection activities and permits issued by AHJ where significant hazards or quantities of hazardous materials will be present.
  • May perform on-site inspections.
  • Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer License
  • Advanced degree in degree in fire protection, mechanical, chemical, civil engineering or a closely related field that includes significant fire protection engineering coursework.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience post licensure project management and code experience.
  • A combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work may be considered.
  • Experience interpreting fire code and/or other building codes.
  • Experience inspecting fire protection systems in the field and/or inspecting for (fire) code compliance in a variety of industries.
  • Proven technical expertise related to hazard analysis of hazardous materials operations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and an ability to effectively represent design solutions to Building and Fire Code Officials across the country.
  • Proven skills using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel or other similar software tools.
  • Highly productive and self-directed.
  • Experience providing leadership either in a direct supervisory or leadership role.

Distillery programs include a beautiful combination of technical and aesthetic requirements resulting from the need to show production facilities to public tours.
