Scott was born in Columbus, OH and grew up in Chicago’s north shore suburbs. Scott attended Lake Forest High School where he excelled at architectural and engineering drafting. Scott attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where he received the degree Master of Architecture. Scott is a member of Alpha Rho Chi Architectural Fraternity and the Gargoyle Honor Society.

Scott has more than 25 years’ experience in the design and building industry. He began his career as a member of a design team in Vail, CO creating a wide variety of buildings ranging from five star hotels in Vail and Beaver Creek, CO to schools, universities, correctional facilities and hospitals throughout the region. Scott has benefited from employment with several top tier design firms in Colorado, Ohio and Mississippi.

Recognizing the disconnect between architectural design and construction, Scott began a design build business. He designed and built high-end award winning and sometimes historic residential and small commercial projects. Today Scott, and his wife Colleen, own Dalkita. Scott holds a Class ‘A’ Denver Contractor Supervisor’s Certificate and is a licensed architect in Colorado, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri and Utah.

In 2005, Scott was asked to design and build Downslope Distillery, in Centennial, CO. Since then, Scott has become a nationally recognized expert in distillery design and construction. He has led Dalkita to design, build, or consult in the design of more than 30 distilleries in Colorado, California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Utah and elsewhere. Some notable distillery projects include Stranahan’s (CO), CopperMuse (CO), Elevation 5003 (CO) and Triple Eight (MA).

Scott provides valuable educational content to distillers looking to build or expand facilities and to regulators who review submitted designs. His recent public speaking appearances include: American Distilling Institute’s conventions in Seattle & San Diego, American Craft Spirits Association conventions in Denver, Austin, and Chicago, and the Colorado Fire Marshals Association in Northglenn, CO and Copper Mountain, CO.

Monthly, Scott is available to the City and County of Denver as board member and past chairman of the Denver Building Department Board of Appeals where he helps resolve building and fire code conflicts between citizens and the City and County of Denver.

Scott and the Dalkita team appears monthly at the Downslope Distilling School in Centennial, CO and provides a 3hr overview seminar on building code, fire code, and design issues regarding distilleries.
