Devin was born in Santa Maria, CA and grew up in Japan and Korea before coming back home to California. Devin attended St. Joseph High School where he played football and track as well as took a full honors coarse load. Devin attended the Colorado School of Mines where is also played football and track while getting a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering. Devin received his M.B.A. from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder specializing in Entrepreneurship and Operations Management.

Devin has 10 years’ experience working as a petroleum engineer specializing in Drilling Engineering and has worked in-field across the Western U.S. Devin founded Devin Mills Consulting in 2013 starting as a single consultant firm and growing it to three engineers and an assistant before the oil crash. He has since moved from oil and gas consulting to distillery consulting. In 2014 Devin founded Rado Distilling as was the president and master distiller before moving to California to follow his wife’s career after she received her Ph.D.

Devin started distilling in 2010 – originally focusing on apple and fruit brandy products. His capstone project for his M.B.A. was Rado Distilling. Devin won multiple awards for the company’s business plan. With Rado he was responsible for designing all systems engineering  including designing and hand-building the stills. As the sole Rado Employee he also developed, the production recipes, tasting room cocktail menu, was the main sales rep, responsible for the regulatory work, and served as master distiller. He built a staff of six people to replace him in moving to California. Devin was able to win a silver medal as the highest rated “rum” in Colorado with his Colorado Beet Spirit in 2015 their first year in operation. His cocktails won multiple awards including from Stills in the Hills and Taste of Arvada. Devin just finished developing a line of canned cocktails that were released in late summer including shrubs, mules and mojitos. With Mills Consulting he has worked on distilleries in Georgia, Massachusetts, Utah, Florida and of course California and Colorado.
